Strength, in a world that is degenerating daily, is highly priced. Strength in a positive form, is to be admired. Whether it is strength of riches, or strength in physique or even strength of speech, we could also throw in strength of position, perhaps also possessing an employee/staff of strength..all these forms of strength are seen to be a plus and rightly so. I dare say a vast majority of women want a man that is strong in some capacity or form. I am yet to meet a woman who when asked what qualities she desired in the opposite sex, would state "easily bullied, weak and disdainful". Strength isn't necessarily money because money doesn't equate with wealth. It is also worthy of note, that men too want strength in a woman. I speak not of brute strength but an inner resilience that is egging her man on and gives him comfort and confidence of a better tomorrow considering the possible current realities.
Having said all these however, one of the greatest cons, hurt, pain and challenge of the strong is the nonchalance of humans. The worst thing you can do to a person of strength is to take that strength for granted, push it beyond its breaking threshold. It is a great injustice to look at one who is strong in riches and assume s/he has no needs, to observe one possessing strength of speech and not realize that s/he has need of the very words of encouragement being doled out, to have in one's employment a strong staff and subject the person to muzzling or even have an employer whose strength is constantly displayed in excellent leadership skills, personnel management and abuse the support system s/he has put in place, let's not forget indifference to a spouse of strength who doesn't trifle with his/her role in the nuclear family but doggedly ensures his/her duties aren't lacking.
The Key? The Solution?....RECIPROCITY!!! not necessarily in the same quantity but in quality of an appreciative heart. Give it a thought!

TGIF
Growing up as a child, I used to look forward to Mondays like I was going to be given a prize when I got to school. I can hardly remember when I looked forward to the weekend as such. I still wonder till today who came up with the acronym "TGIF". Of course it has been recorded in the anals of time that music helped perpetrate the thought of looking forward to the weekend, what with the song "Thank God it's Friday" released by the disco group called "Love and Kisses" in the 70's.
Yes, the feeling of two days of rest (if you don't work in a demanding Nigerian Bank) gives a feeling of respite. The young up and coming single man, plans hooking up with "the boys" and the urban lady plans either playing a supportive role at her friend's wedding or spend time with her "boo", the married may use the time to restock their homes and most commonly, people will have a "lie in" knowing they don't have to get up early.
But all the above are not the crux of the matter. The intention of this write up is to ask, is anyone out there doing what they really love??? Has anyone grasped what they were born to do and been able to translate their innate dexterity to trade-able commodity? Is it accurate to conclusively say a vast majority are square pegs in round holes? Is anyone out there stepping out with a big grin on face, a rhythmic staccato to their steps and a swag to their swing?
Is anyone saying ""Thank God it's Monday"?
